The South Fork Holston River is well known for its
abundant trout fishing. Both browns and rainbows are
hatchery supported and stocked each year. Part of the
appeal of this river is the potential for the big ones... 10lb
brown trout are not unusual, and in this stretch of river
anglers have netted browns that tipped the scales at
20lbs!
The generation schedule of the Holston Dam contributes
to your fishing day. If the dam is generating the water is
fast and the fish are often more aggressive and a heck of a
lot of fun to reel in off a boat. When they are not
generating you can wade in and pull in nice size fish off

the grasses that run the length of the river. Whatever your strategy, you're sure to have success in this
river!
This huge lake (over 7500 acres!) is a clean
beautiful swimming lake that is also full of fish!
Although populations of small and largemouth bass
aren't overwhelming, you can catch really quality
size fish. The TVA stocks walleye, crappie and
rainbow trout which keeps the fish biting! Catfish
are prevalent and a lot of fun to catch and fry! And
if your not using a lure there is a nice forage base of
shad, bluegill and other minnows to keep your bait
bucket full!
